History of Women’s Right to Vote

1848

Seneca Falls Convention in USA led by Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott.

1893

New Zealand became the first country to grant women the right to vote.

1902–1906

Australia granted voting rights. Finland gave full political rights.

1918–1920

War contributions helped UK and USA grant voting rights.

Global Spread

Canada, Germany, France, and Japan followed.

Philippines 1937

Filipino women gained voting rights after a nationwide plebiscite.
